In a rare showcase of his melodic talent, Dolph lifts the hook from Tupac’s “Ambitionz Az A Ridah” and traps it out in the aptly-named “Trappa.” Taking over Magic City and throwing stacks around, Dolph is stunting as hard as ever, he and his squad surrounded by women in various states of undress. With tight bursts of snare and high-hat over a wall of bass and a deceptively catchy piano melody, the beat is a perfect fit for Dolph’s brand of witty and evocative trap rhymes and he does not disappoint, riding the beat perfectly. “Trappa” is a stand-out track from Dolph’s mixtape Rich Crack Baby, which came out last Friday. With a features list that includes T.I., Gucci Mane, and 2 Chainz, tracks produced by Zaytoven,Drumma Boy, and Honorable C-Note, and having just received a nomination for the BET Hip-Hop Awards’ “People’s Champ” Award it is clear that the rest of rap world can’t deny it anymore either.
