Rey Res – High With Me (Video)

Rey Res returns with his new visual/stoner’s anthem High With Me. Back in January, Rey Res also released the anticipated album Heart of The City on iTunes. The new video follows Rey Res around the city with his homies, in the studio and inhaling Cali’s finest. Read more about the new video below:

Pass the joint-pass good vibes. Rey Resurreccion, who was just featured on the cover of his hometown newspaper, The San Jose Metro, shares his West Coast state-of-mind in his video “High With Me,” a track from his recently released album, Heart of the City. To most, San Jose is known as a breeding ground for successful tech start-ups, but with Heart of the City, Rey Res peels back his hometown’s layers of class, race, and complexities to reveal a lesser-known side. As the first breakout rapper from a city that lives in the shadows of its rapper-heavy Bay Area neighbors, San Francisco and Oakland, Rey Res takes his job seriously but knows when to relax and unwind in true Cali fashion. “High With Me,” premiered bySFGate’s marijuana blog, Smell the Truth, shows Rey and his squad cruising through San Jo in their signature vintage whips, passing around that loud.

The beat, produced by Dublin Beats, bumps the Yay Area vibe that Rey Res takes pride in. “Cali is all about being laid back and having a good time, but still being a G about it,” he states. “I want people to hear this song and immediately think, “This is that West Coast shit!” Gearing up to his forthcoming album, Rey released The Mixtape Before the Album, a collection of self-reflective narratives featuring artists such as Equipto, Bored Stiff, J. Lately, Bambu, Prometheus Brown (Blue Scholars), and A-1.
