“You Can’t Hold Me Down” is a track that for me, felt like it took my entire life to write. As someone of blended ethnicity (Hispanic/Native/European), the current climate of race relations can wear thin on an already flimsy racial identity. As far as art is concerned, I rarely hear anybody articulating what I, or millions of other people of mixed heritage feel in this climate.
