Clint Eastwood Protege Howie Klausner Launches Film Website

Although he had graduated with honors from USC Film School, when Howie Klausner stepped onto the set of the film he had written for Clint Eastwood, “Space Cowboys,” he realized he was about to get an entirely different education-one that can only be learned by doing. Over a decade later and after having written, produced and directed full length motion pictures, Klausner together with his business partner Tim Brown is set to share those experiences learned with fellow filmmakers and fans with the launch of his new website geared toward film lovers, TheBizreporter.com. Klausner and Brown will debut their new venture at the National Religious Broadcasters (NRB) Convention at the Opryland Hotel.

The site will feature expert articles and podcasts featuring top entertainment industry professionals designed to educate, inform and entertain pros already in “The Biz” and those looking for career advice.

“As veteran filmmakers, we’ve been asked to share what we’ve learned over the years,” says Klausner. “We’re also having a lot of fun talking to our friends in the entertainment industry and asking them to share their personal stories on our podcasts.”

The site will launch with podcasts with actor Kevin Sorbo (Hercules, God’s Not Dead), director/musician Steve Taylor (Blue Like Jazz), director Sean McNamara (Soul Surfer) and radio talk show host Phil Valentine. On this week’s podcast, producer and marketing expert Mark Joseph (Passion of the Christ, Narnia, Max Rose) talks about the great divide between Hollywood and the rest of America and the rising tide of films with strong religious themes.

The site will also cover indie movie production, screenwriting, industry salaries and tips on how to land a job in 2016.

“One of the characteristics of Howie’s career has been his ability to be a bridge between the professionalism of Hollywood and the values of the American heartland. In the same way, the goal of Townsquare Pictures and Biz Reporter is to create and cheer on those films and filmmakers who want to create great art that is both inspirational but also professional and up to the highest standards of the film industry,” noted Brown. “We’ve never felt that quality should be sacrificed on the altar of the story. We plan to also extensively cover the convergence of faith and film and encourage filmmakers of faith to rather than creating a religious subculture of film, continue to bring those values they hold dear to the process of making films in the mainstream where their films can be enjoyed by all Americans. One of the great events at NRB is a ‘pitch-a-thon’ where budding filmmakers can present their ideas for purchase. We hope to be a valuable resource for this new generation of filmmakers and entertainers for years to come.”
