BET Launches Chatbot to Deepen Fan Engagement at Fifth Annual BET Experience

Today BET is at the forefront of multi-modal, multi-channel engagement: integrating conversational technologies with live brand experiences enables fans to stay connected long after the curtains have closed.

Today BET Networks, the nation’s leading provider of quality entertainment, music, news and public affairs television programming for the African-American audience, and Conversable, an AI-powered conversational intelligence platform, announced the launch of a new chatbot to engage fans and attendees of the fifth annual BET Experience at L.A. LIVE presented by Coca-Cola. The chatbot will provide a 360-degree digital experience with exclusive content and real-time event updates. It’s now available through Facebook Messenger, coinciding with the lead-up to the “BET Awards” on June 25, 2017.

This is the first US-based Viacom chatbot to integrate with a live event. The chatbot will offer GIFs on demand, show info, FAQs, and more to enable fans to get the most out of their experience, all on the familiar and popular Facebook Messenger platform. The chatbot also has robust integration with the BETX ’17 App powered by AT&T, ensuring fans can access all the content and features of the BET ecosystem from convenient and conversational digital endpoints.

Notably, Kleiner Perkins’ 2017 Internet Trends Report showed that 60% of consumers want companies to improve by offering easier access to online support channels and 53% want faster response times. While demand for faster, more convenient digital engagement with brands is growing, BET is once again leading the way. Last year, the BET Awards was the #1 cable awards show of the 2016 television season among the 18-49 year old demographic. In addition, the festival drew its highest attendance last year with 165,000 guests, a 10% increase from 2015. The launch of the BET Experience chatbot ensures that these fans will continue to be well-served and engaged in one of the year’s most memorable events.

As previously announced, the BET Experience at L.A. LIVE presented by Coca-Cola® is a four-day event taking place June 22-25, 2017. The stellar event will showcase the best in music and entertainment, including STAPLES Center performances by Snoop Dogg, Wiz Khalifa, Migos, A$AP Rocky, ScHoolboy Q, Bryson Tiller, Kid Cudi, Gucci Mane, Jhené Aiko, Rae Sremmurd, Jidenna, Young Thug, Desiigner, Lil Yatchy, Pusha T, THEY., H.E.R., Playboi Carti and Khalid. Additionally, Keyshia Cole, 2 Chainz and friends, Jacquees and De La Ghetto have joined the line-up to headline concerts at The Novo presented by Microsoft.

Interactive activations, the all new Kicksperience and a celebrity basketball game which requires a ticket for entry will also take place at the BET Fan Fest on Saturday, June 24 and Sunday, June 25 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
