AMC Theaters & MoviePass to test out Monthly Subscription Service

AMC Theaters links up MoviePass to do something movie theaters have never done before. Stealing the subscription service model from Netflix, AMC Theaters and MoviePass plan on keeping you at the movies more often. The Kansas City Star reports:

“AMC theaters in Boston and Denver will begin working in concert with MoviePass to offer monthly subscription packages for $45 and $35. More cities will be added. The pilot partnership with AMC will allow MoviePass members an option, for $45 a month, to see films in any format, including Imax and 3-D.”

They plan on trying this out in January. This could work to some extent for frequent movie goers. If you’re at the movies every friday, this could be a steal. If you’re busy and can only make it out once or twice a month, this may be too expensive for some. Especially with the extreme costs of all of their munchies. On the other hand, if your girl brings her big purse, you can sneak in some cheaper items, like we do.

Any who, how many of you plan on getting a subscription service for the movies?
