From the city who brought you Eminem, Royce Da 5’9″, Trick Trick, Motown, J Dilla and more recently Danny Brown, Big Sean & Dej Loaf, doesn’t get nearly as much shine as it should.

While the names that were mentioned are a good look for the city, there’s lots of underground artists that go unnoticed. So we’ve put together 4 Detroit Hip Hop Blogs to keep you up to date with the Detroit Hip Hop culture.

  1. DetroitRap.com – Calling themselves the number one spots for Detroit Hip Hop and Detroit music blogs, DetroitRap.com is one of the few blogs that I’ve come across that has their own promotional van. They believe in presenting the information to you and letting you decided on whether or not the music is dope. Check them out!

SooDetroit.com refers to themselves a Detroit’s leading name in Urban Entertainment. Keeping your eye on them will keep you up to date with the Detroit Hip Hop.

3. DetroitMusicMag.com – The next is Detroit Music Mag. Similar to the previous site, it’s an online magazine based on the Detroit Music scene as whole. So you’ll catch other genres like Electronic music. But don’t get discouraged. DetroitMusicMag.com has their finger on the pulse of Detroit Hip Hop as well. Check them out!

4. PiecesOfDetroit.com – This website is a base for music, but it’s a big part of Detroit Hip Hop Culture. Pieces Of Detroit is based on the Graffiti scene that’s happening in Detroit. The site even breaks down the Detroit Graffiti by the neighborhood. You can even pick up some merch as well as a book they’ve released.
